Meet Sita
At Afghan Traditional Sweets, baking is more than a business – it’s a way of sharing our heritage with the community. Each of our treats, from delicate Baklava to traditional Afghan Kulcha, is handmade with care using 100% fresh ingredients, free from preservatives and artificial colours. We proudly source our ingredients from local suppliers, supporting fellow small businesses and ensuring the highest quality in every batch.
Moving from Afghanistan to Australia in 2015, founder Sita Nabizada quickly noticed a gap in the community for authentic Afghan cultural foods. With a deep love for baking and a spark of entrepreneurship, Sita launched Afghan Traditional Sweets in late 2017 with just a small marquee, a table, and a few homemade treats. Nearly six years on, Afghan Traditional Sweets has become a well-loved name across Queensland, thanks to the support of our amazing customers.
Our sweets are more than just desserts – they’re a celebration of Afghan culture, packed with rich, unique flavours that take your tastebuds on a journey. From humble beginnings to a growing presence, our mission has remained the same: to preserve and share the beauty of Afghan heritage through food, and to educate the next generation about its cultural richness.
Each bite tells a story of tradition, community, and care – transporting you to the vibrant streets of Kabul with every mouthful. We’re proud to be part of the Queensland community and grateful for the opportunity to connect people through the universal language of food.
